Pens

When beginning turning pens it was very easy to become delighted by the finish CA glue provides, almost as if dipped in glass level of sheen.  The last several years however have proved less fulfilling as the CA glue is very hard and brittle.  Checking tends to occur and my preference has changed to a nice lacquer finish.  Lacquer can range anywhere from a matt to an extremely high gloss.

Blanks made from polyester resin, urethanes, TrueStone, etc. are still very nice and shine like glass when buffed.
